~About Little Lotus Yoga ~

Little Lotus Yoga's mission is to share the gift of yoga with all the "blossoming yogis" in our community by offering classes from womb (prenatal yoga) to bloom (teen yoga). Little Lotus Yoga honors the whole child by focusing on mind, body and spirit. This integrated approach enhances concentration, focus and self - esteem. The postures and breathing exercises in yoga teach the child skills for coping with stress and how to energize or calm oneself. Little Lotus Yoga encourages children to open their minds through yoga so they learn to challenge and develop themselves creatively and calmly. Each class is different introducing many poses, breathing and relaxation techniques.

Children of every age who experience a Little Lotus yoga class want to continue taking classes because it makes them feel good. Unlike other activities where children are required to participate, most children choose to take yoga because of the non-competitive environment and the relaxed, calming state they consistently feel after each class. By starting yoga at an early age, children can learn to establish a mind-body connection and lifelong skills to a balanced life. This is a priceless gift you can give your child.

~Dena Vigilis, Certified Children's Yoga Teacher ~

Dena Vigilis, founder of Little Lotus Yoga, began studying yoga in 1996 to provide strength, focus, and flexibility as well as finding ways to calm the body and mind. Through her own personal experience of yoga transforming her life, Dena soon realized her own path - combining her passion for yoga and children. Feeling and seeing the positive effects of yoga as an adult made her want to share the experience with children. If a child is given the tools to learn how to be balanced and focused, then they are one step closer to moving forward in life with a peaceful, balanced and confident stride.

Dena's success with teaching yoga to children resides in her innate ability to relate and connect to students of all ages. Dena creates an environment of love, respect and positive reinforcement that children feel in every class they experience which is why they consistently want to continue to do yoga with "Miss Dena"!

A differentiating factor about Little Lotus Yoga is Dena's dedication to training programs specifically geared toward children's yoga. ~Ronni Aronow, Certified Children's Yoga Teacher ~

Ronni Aronow began studying yoga in 1994 as a way to calm her mind and body while pregnant with her second child, and credits her on-going yoga practice for her ability to now be a sane mother of three. Previously an elementary school teacher, Ronni realized that she could combine her love of teaching children with her belief in the benefits of yoga. After practicing yoga poses, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques with her own children, ages 16, 13 and 9, she knew that she had to share the benefits with other children in the community.

Children love Ronni's smile and the way that she relates to them, encouraging them to challenge themselves, while also being mindful of their limitations. Ronni's classes provide children with a safe, warm and positive environment, which they look forward to coming to again and again. Ronni has a Masters in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from New York University, Post Masters in Gifted and Talented Education from CW Post, and is attaining a Masters degree in Special Education, specializing in Autism. She has received certifications in the following yoga programs and incorporates all of these into her own method.
