Class Descriptions

Yoga Seeds (Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga 4 week series) -
Come celebrate the beautiful process of pregnancy and post-pregnancy in this four-session series! Yoga poses, breath work, sound vibration and relaxation techniques will be used to build strength, flexibility, awareness and inner calm. These are ideal tools for the mom-to-be as she prepares for labor and childbirth and the new mom as she rebuilds her strength and takes her first steps into motherhood. You will have the opportunity to share in the rich experiences and wisdom of other women on this journey of motherhood - though each of our routes may take many different turns, we are all walking the same path.

As a mother herself, Dena has experienced the wonderful benefits of practicing yoga during pregnancy firsthand. She began studying yoga in 1996 to provide strength, focus, and flexibility as well as finding ways to calm her body and mind. Dena trained and interned with Mary Barnes Yoga for Two Prenatal and Post-Partum Program in NYC.

Dates: Tuesdays 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, 5/25
Cost: $80, reserve by e-mail dena@littlelotusyoga.com or call 516-521-3539

Yoga Buds (4-6 year olds) -
Classes are fun, creative, and playful to allow the young yogis and yoginis to use their imaginations as we learn simple yoga poses, playful breathing exercises and relaxation. Classes incorporate music, art, story-telling, cooperative games and endless imagination as an introduction to yoga.

Storytime Yoga for Buds (4-6 year olds) -
Storytime Yoga for Buds (4-6 yr olds) will revolve around a different inspirational and upbeat children's book each week. The class will begin with breathing and meditation, followed by the reading with yoga poses incorporated with the story. The class will finish with a calming and peaceful relaxation to start the weekend.

Yoga Blooms (7-9 year olds) -
Strength, flexibility, and coordination are focused on with a greater understanding of body awareness. Yoga sequences, breathing, balance poses, and relaxation are taught to build a child's confidence in their abilities while practicing in a non-competitive environment.

Yoga Tweens (9-12 years old) -
As the body and mind transitions from childhood to adulthood, classes focus on body structure, building inner and outer strength, concentration, breathing, relaxation, and meditation. During this stage of pressure and uncertainty, yoga poses, breathing techniques, and relaxation are all used to give teens tools to help manage these emotions.

Yoga Teens (Ages 13+) -
What better way to de-stress after a day of classes, homework and tests? Walk over with your friends, drop your backpack at the door, roll out your mat and feel the tension fall away! You will learn breathing techniques to aid in relaxation, anxiety reduction, increasing concentration and energy, as well as postures to increase flexibility, strengthen, improve confidence and balance - all while having fun!

Yoga Garden (Family Yoga) - TBD
Focus, breathe, relax and bond with your child while experiencing the gift of yoga. Each class focuses on creating a non-judgmental environment where parent and child can help and support each other while learning various yoga poses and breathing techniques.
